Keep Wales Tidy is a charity committed to working with local communities across Wales to protect our environment now and for the future.
A clean, green local environment not only protects biodiversity but also enhances well being, and plays a vital role in building strong, resilient communities; those communities which are at the very heart of everything that Keep Wales Tidy does.
It is clear that the need to protect our natural environment has never been greater.
We know that the coming years will continue to prove to be a challenge for many charities in Wales, as well as for the communities that we live in.
With the expected diminishing funding it is important that we continue to work together to realise our collective ambitions.
Thank you for supporting our work (and wishing you luck with your lottery ticket!)

Beautiful Wales: our strategy for the decade
Keep Wales Tidy’s origins can be traced back to the 1950s, when post-war pride in the UK led the way in tackling the ever-increasing problem of litter. The WI responded by creating the Keep Britain Tidy group.
Then in 1972, the Keep Wales Tidy campaign was launched, and we haven’t looked back.
While we continue the fight against litter, our work has grown to include a much wider scope of environmental care. In 2022, Keep Wales Tidy launched a simple but ambitious strategy in which we promised to create and restore green spaces and empower youth on environmental
issues.
Our strategy outlines how we will continue to work together with government, public bodies, partner organisations, community groups and our army of volunteers to deliver a country that we are all proud to call beautiful.

Creating and restoring green spaces
Accessible green spaces provide a haven for people and nature, improve health and well-being and protect biodiversity.
Our nature and conservation work through programs like Local Places for Nature empowers communities to care for their local green spaces, protect wildlife, and feed into the wider global effort to combat the climate emergency.
If you know of a space in need of Local Places for Nature support head on over to see how you can apply.
Setting standards for environmental quality
Environmental quality sits at the core of Keep Wales Tidy’s purpose.
We are incredibly proud to manage a number of important award programmes in Wales including Blue Flag, Green Flag and Green Key – all of which are in place to promote and drive environmental excellence.
Wales has a wealth of stunning flag flying beaches, parks and green spaces for you to visit. You can find them all on our website.
Empowering young people
At Keep Wales Tidy, we believe in giving young people the knowledge and understanding to drive positive environmental change.
Today’s young people are tomorrow’s policy makers, business owners and consumers.
We engage with young people across Wales to deliver a curriculum based environmental education program through Eco-Schools and have recently engaged an exceptional Youth Board team to challenge our assumptions and lead us in our engagement with a new younger group of environmental supporters.
